An Imperfect Comic about Perfection

Dec 12, 2014

Hi everyone! Happy Fear Monster Friday!

Some of you may have noticed that I didn't get a comic for last week done. After getting back from Bali, jet lag kicked my butt! I was asleep for about four days straight. I really wanted to draw the comic, but I was physically incapable of it.

And then of course George was pretty upset that I messed up my "perfect attendance record." For a year, I've done at least one comic every week and then, the best I could do wasn't good enough.

So this made me think about the idea of perfection, and how impossible it really is to be perfect.

I have pretty high standards for myself, as we all do. But what you have to remember that your high standards for yourself are just that -- YOURS! Most likely, other people aren't going to hold it against you if you miss your own mark.

It reminds me of the Dr. Seuss quote, "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind."

So to practice not being perfect, I let George help with this week's comic. Isn't his drawing cute?

I'm curious -- are your standards for yourself a little too high? Are you letting your inner fear monster drive you crazy? Let me know in the comments!
